Save The Roof Fund: The One Thing All Religions Seem To Have In Common

Slate Roof Tiles       Bongeunsa Buddhist Temple, Seoul

I had to smile when, on my way out of the temple complex, I saw charcoal-coloured slate roofing tiles stacked up outside an information booth near the exit. For 10,000 South Korean Won (approximately $10.00), I could buy a tile to write my prayers, thoughts, or wishes on and it would then be used to repair the roof of the main temple.

Though it was a beautiful idea, my smile came from the fact that no matter how exotic or foreign, it seemed that no religion is too good for a 'Save The Roof' fund.
