Zen In The City

Chi Lin Nunnery, Hong Kong, China

The serene Chi Lin Nunnery — nestled amongst high rise buildings in New Kowloon, Hong Kong — is a welcome respite from the chaos, smells and sounds of the surrounding streets. This large Buddhist complex is one of the few that is for female monks only, and is full of lotus ponds, immaculate bonsi trees, and silent worshipers that place offerings of fruit and rice in front of statues and on alters inside the various temples.
