The Little Artist

The Little Artist               Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Oblivious to the tourists, other children, and noises of the surrounding jungle, this young boy knelt beneath the canopy of trees sketching portraits of ancient warriors in the dirt.

Pausing to watch, I expected that he would turn around and ask for money like the rest of the children I had encountered had done.

He didn’t even turn his head.

Focused, he ignored me and continued to guide the small stick through the dust, creating beautiful images that would soon be blown away by the wind.
